GRIP’S CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR SURVIVOR CHILDREN.
GRIP held a Christmas party on 7 December 2007 for all the children survivors of rape and sexual assault during 2007. 350 children under the age of 15 were raped during the year of 2007 and 200 of these rape survivors attended an unforgettable and joyful day at the Katoha Park in Rocky’s Drift. All GRIP staff from Head Office attended the function in order to show love and respect for the survivors and played with the youngest survivor, who is 8 months old. The organization Wanda van Zyl from ‘Party in a Box” arranged for delicious sweet packs, presents, balloons and much more fun and laughter. Danie Greyling form Sunbake surprised all the children with the Sunbake Man coming to play with them, and with lunch and cool drink for all children and staff. GRIP wishes to thank Danie for this very generous donation. The children had a day without fear, sadness or depression, and for one day they didn’t need to worry about court cases or their perpetrators. They had fun dancing, swimming, playing ball, and looking at the staff who became children themselves in splashing and sliding down the super tube. Danie Greyling even jumped in the swimming pool and saved a survivor who appeared not to be able to swim. Thank you also to Katoha Park for the beautiful and peaceful park, that provided the children the opportunity to enjoy themselves in nature and with friends. The day became an unforgettable memory for all present and we as GRIP staff honor and respect our brave survivors. Each survivor received a teddy bear in order to remember the day as a day of hope and inspiration. |
