Get Involved

GRIP is a community programme and for it to be successful we need community support. You can help in many ways!

  • Monetary
GRIP is a non-profit organisation and is funded through organisations such as USAid but also relies heavily on funds raised and donated by individuals. Should you wish to make a donation our bank details are as follows:
Account name: Greater Rape Intervention Project
         Bank: Standard Bank
         Account number: 032 592 558
         Branch: 052 852
         NPO number 008771
  • Old clothes
Sometimes survivors flee without taking anything with them and in some instances like rape clothes may be handed in as evidence. Many of our survivors are children and from poor communities. Your donations will be put to good use.
  • Furniture
Many of our care rooms are in need of an upgrade and when we have capacity and enough funds we would like to open some more. Please keep GRIP in mind when you are redecorating, couches, curtains, chairs, cushions and throws will be most welcome.
  • Stationery
  • Computers
  • Wool
TEDDIES Barbara Bredenkamp is the wonderful maker of all the teddies that GRIP uses in their care packs. She knits about 20 teddies a month for GRIP and relies on wool and polyester donations to be able to continue. Please drop off wool (preferably double knit) and/or polyester stuffing at our head office (17 Ehmke Street, Mbombela) or get in touch to arrange collection

If you would like to get involved by rendering services such as supplying photocopiers, ICT etc please get in touch. Our care rooms and head office operationally rely on these services.

Please get in touch if you think you can help. GRIP makes use of volunteers with different skillsets from marketing to counseling and many more. We also occasionally offer internships. The Chicken Challenge initiative is an annual fundraiser that involves job creation, skills development, community collaboration and artist participation. The initiative is organised and managed by a seven enthusiastic Mbombela women from all walks of life with complimentary skillsets. Although the planning and chicken canvas creation runs throughout the year, the highlight is the yearly exhibition that takes place at the White River Gallery. The 2016 exhibition takes place from 16 June to 11 July. Chicken artworks are placed on auction. Proceeds from the auction are donated to GRIP
